It has been a busy week already for Fortnite players, as the promised in-game event finally took place over the weekend with the mysterious cube hovering over Leaky Lake. More than 1 million viewers watched on Twitch as the cube eventually burst, pulling players into a brightly lit void, before sending them back to the island with a revamped Leaky Lake. With Kevin, the community-named purple cube, now gone, Fortnite is moving on to what’s next. Halloween may be over but Epic Games is pushing forward with the spooky theme by adding in a brand new team based mode in this week’s update.
In the latest 6.22 patch notes for Fortnite, Epic Games has added Team Terror to the Limited Time Playlist. While the objective is to still wipe out the enemy team, things have gotten a little more complicated in this large team mode as NPC monsters have also been added to the island. Players will find monster spawners scattered around the map and the monsters that spawn drop new weapons or ammo with gold monsters dropping legendary items as well. This mode also increases resource farming by 75%, adds triple the ammo to crates as well as increasing the loot spawn as well.
Other Battle Royale changes include Blitz also returning as an alternative limited time mode, basically quickening the pace of a normal match. The Pumpkin Launcher has reverted back to its normal look, balloon spawn rate have been significantly nerfed, and the heavy assault rifle has also been added to the loot table. This automatic weapon comes with a 25 round magazine size, 3.75 fire rate, and can be found in either Rare, Epic or Legendary varieties.
For Save the World players, the second part of Fortnitemares has arrived and finally lets players square off against Vlad. New heroes have also been made available including the new Mythic Ninja Werewolf Dire who gets stronger at night. Sanguine Dusk, a Legendary Outlander, can use an ability called Phase Shift to steal life from enemies. Werewolf Dire can be purchased from the in-game store starting on November 7, while Sanguine Dusk is a quest reward for Fortnitemares Part 2.
Update 6.22 also brings a fair amount of bug fixes, tweaks, and adjustments to both sides of the game. Players who also want to live their fantasies of becoming an NFL player will have the chance thanks to a partnership between Epic and the NFL that brings team outfits to the store on November 9.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, iOS, and Android.
