God of War Director Says “You Pay Me $60, I Will Give You Everything I Can Possibly Give”

“I have always had an over delivery complex…”

God of War

Until now, the best game in the God of War series has commonly been accepted to have been God of War 2, the rip roaring second entry in the series that went bigger and better than the first game, while also growing more absurd. God of War 2 had far more of everything than the original game—more locations, more mechanics, more puzzles, a fleshed out combat system, more weapons, a ridiculous amount of bosses, and more. Even God of War 3, which followed, ended up stripping back a lot of things from God of War 2–such as the time mechanics.

However, the upcoming God of War, which is also by Cory Barlog like God of War 2 was, will, apparently, do the same thing as God of War 2, by overdelivering in just about every aspect.

“I have always had this overdelivery complex,” Barlog said on the PlayStation Blog. “I keep obsessively adding things, making the game bigger and better, because I can’t leave anything on the table. I want to give the whole experience. You’ll pay $60? You’ll get everything I can possibly give.”

One thing we can all be sure of is that, for example, things won’t be held back for DLC or microtransactions later—this will be as full fledged an experience as we can get. With a 30 hour long hub based open world action RPG campaign, this promises to be the biggest and best God of War game yet. It launches this Friday, exclusively for the PS4.
