Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has been updated yet again, and this week’s update is meatier than most. Whereas Jam City has been consistently adding just one story chapter each week to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, this week’s update brings two story chapters, four classes, and even a side quest for fans to try out.
The new side quest in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has to deal with Rita Skeeter, the controversial Daily Prophet journalist with questionable ethics. Meanwhile, the main story missions are a continuation of the ongoing quest to find all of the Cursed Vaults and discover what happened to the player character’s missing brother Jacob. Players will have the opportunity to take some of their friends with them on their adventures this week, so they may want to spend time leveling them up.
Besides the new story content, the latest update for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery appears to have made ads available to other players on a much larger scale. Prior to the update, only some players had the option to watch ads in exchange for gems, but a glance at Reddit indicates this is no longer the case. Now players should find it much easier to save up gems in the game.
Saving gems in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is important because gems are the primary currency in the game and used to purchase the most important things. For example, gems are used to refill one’s energy, and they’re also used to adopt pets, which can be an additional free source of energy for players to take advantage of. Gems are also used to purchase the more desirable cosmetic items as well.
Gems can also be used to buy more tickets for the Duelling Club, which went live for a couple of days this week as a special in-game event. Jam City fixed one complaint fans had about the Duelling Club, mainly the way tickets didn’t recharge, but now people are complaining that the event is rigged against them, losing far more than they ever did in the past.
Whether or not this is true remains to be seen, but disregarding the Duelling Club, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery players at least have some new story content to play through.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
