For the past few months, developer Jam City has established a pattern of releasing new story content for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery on Thursdays, usually one or two chapters at a time. However, this past Thursday came and went with no new story content, leaving some fans to wonder why Year 4 Chapter 15 has yet to be added to Hogwarts Mystery.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any official explanation from Jam City as to why Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery didn’t get any new story content this past Thursday, but we can make an educated guess. While it’s certainly not confirmed, it seems as though there are likely two reasons why fans have to wait a little bit longer for more story content.
For one, Jam City added two story chapters last week instead of one, so maybe Chapters 13 and 14 were meant to last players until next Thursday, August 23. Jam City has added two chapters to Hogwarts Mystery in the past and still managed to release another chapter the following week, but perhaps the developer opted to spend time working on other features instead or is hoping to release all three of the final Year 4 chapters at the same time.
Another possible reason why Jam City decided to skip releasing Chapter 15 this week is due to the Become A Prefect side quest. This side quest is a timed event that only gives players three days to complete it. It’s possible players will get another crack at it if they fail, but if not, failing the event will cost them an achievement, their status as a prefect, and the ability to enter the Prefects’ Bathroom. It’s unclear if there will be any bonuses tied to the Prefects’ Bathroom, but it’s unlikely that it will just be an empty room with no benefits tied to it.
Since the Become A Prefect side quest requires a lot of energy from players, perhaps Jam City didn’t want them to have to choose between continuing the story in a timely manner or pursuing the Become A Prefect side quest. The side quest itself has enough parts and classes to it that it is just as time-consuming as main story content anyway, so maybe the studio’s efforts went there this week.
Whatever the case may be, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to progress the story. When Year 4 Chapter 15, Dark Secrets, does go live though, we hope the developers fix the typo in the story’s description that currently reads “Help Hargid at his hut” instead of “Help Hagrid at his hut.”
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
