Red Dead Redemption 2 Gameplay Trailer Reveals New Details

With a release date quickly approaching, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains somewhat of an enigma for many fans following multiple delays, a long development cycle, and a slow stream of new details. The marketing machine may be picking up steam however as Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently boasted that the upcoming open-world title would redefine the gaming industry and while Rockstar Games also teased new gameplay footage was on the way. The curtain is finally getting pulled back as the newest trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 shows off what players can expect in October.

As fans have already come to know thanks to various articles and previous trailers, Red Dead Redemption 2 focuses on Arthur Morgan and his life as part of Dutch’s Gang. This lengthy, six minute gameplay introduction trailer shows off how detailed and interactive Rockstar has made this open world. Including the towns that dot the land, players will be exploring all sorts of diverse landscapes across America’s heartland and frontier like snowy mountains, deserts, and swamplands to name a few.

The footage also confirms that player choice and actions will impact the world in various ways whether that means running into a stranger who’s significant other was killed because of you, or perhaps intimidating a witness to change the fate of a criminal. These decisions also impact the camp that the Van der Linde gang calls home as the player can raise or hurt morale in a variety of ways such as bringing back food gathered from hunting. The camp is also a great place to discover side missions and partake in other activities like drinking, causing some mischief, or gambling.

The trailer also detailed a few other elements which aim to make the experience more lifelike and natural. The combat system has been redesigned in an effort to keep the player engaged. Each weapon now has unique characteristics as well as a more realistic recoil and reload animations. Similarly, horses now play a bigger role in the game with certain breeds better suited for different tasks. Arthur can even bond with his horse by riding and caring for it which in turn will improve his ability to control them during tense situations.

With more gameplay videos coming over the next few weeks, it’s clear that Red Dead Redemption 2 may be Rockstar’s biggest game to date. From this trailer alone, players should have plenty to keep them busy once the game finally launches in a couple months.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled to launch on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
